What is Balanced Mind's Crisis Mode?

Crisis Mode is a quick-access area with immediate regulation techniques — guided breathing, grounding, emergency resources — for moments of intense anxiety, a meltdown, or an emotional crisis.

Balanced Mind's Crisis Mode was built to be used at the peak of a crisis, whether that is intense anxiety, a panic attack, a meltdown, or a moment of emotional collapse.

What it includes: guided breathing techniques with a visual animation (such as 4-7-8 breathing), sensory grounding exercises (5 things I see, 4 I hear...), emergency contact options (such as the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline in the US for depression-related crises or thoughts of death, with a reminder to look up your own country's crisis line if you are elsewhere), and short, visual regulation content, deliberately not long text, because processing lengthy text during a crisis is hard.

Design choices: Crisis Mode was designed to work when cognitive capacity is reduced, with few taps, clear information, calm colors, and no sensory overload.

When to use it: acute anxiety, a panic attack, an autistic meltdown, a moment of intense rumination, or any situation where emotional regulation feels out of reach.
